ITALIAN GAMES

Full and Empty Bag
The game playground: indoor and outdoor areas
Number of players: Group (At least 3 people)
How Can We Play The Game? ◊
The game of Full and Empty Bag is a game played in Primary
Schools (including Kindergarten) during the hours of physical
education. However simple, this game is addictive and fun
because it relies on quickness of reflexes by participants.
At the beginning the participants are arranged in a row, in
front of the instructor who will give three types of
commands and participants must be able to follow them;
who is wrong will be disqualified until only one remains: the
winner.
The three commands are:
o full bag in which participants must stand up,
o empty bag in which participants must get down
o medium bag in which participants must stay in the
middle between full bag and empty bag.
If someone make mistakes is out of the game.
The winner is who is never wrong.
• During the course of the game the participants tend to reduce the
level of attention: lowering and rising rhythmically for quite some
time determine some effort in thighs and calves that creates
fatigue.
• The words of instructor can be intentionally misleading because
he/she can give such a command quickly after a series of
commands to speed more sustained confusing ideas. A formidable
technique to disqualify more participants is to give two or more
times the same command when the people don't expect it.
• The game of Full and Empty Bag is a lot of fun and also
gymnastic; it is important the skill of the instructor and the
quickness of reflexes.
The Witch Says … (Colour)
The game playground:
Number of players:
giocatori = players
indoor and outdoor areas
Group (At least 3 people)
How Can We Play The Game? ◊
The Witch Says Colour is a traditional
children's game; the "witch" is the player who
leads the game and aims to capture the
opponents.
The game starts with the witch who
pronounces the sentence "Witch Says
Colour..." followed by the name of a colour
(for example "Witch Says Colour... green).
At that point, the other players will have to
search for an object of the specified colour
and touch him to avoid being captured by the
witch. Witch's task is to capture one of the
other players before it is saved. The player
caught becomes "witch" in the next round...
and the game begins again.
 One, Two, Three... Star
The game playground: indoor and outdoor areas
Number of players: Group (At least 3 people)How Can We Play The Game? ◊
The game One, Two, Three... Star is known in different
parts of the world. A British variant is called "Red light,
Green light", with obvious reference to the lights of a
traffic light.
At the beginning all children except one (the one that
"is under" and is "the star") get in line at an equal
distance from a wall.
The child that is under leans on a wall, giving his back
to others and counts aloud "one, two, three... star!",
then turning abruptly.
While the player is facing the wall, the others can go
ahead and move towards the wall.
When the player turns saying "star", all other players
have to stay still. If the player who is under perceives
the movement of a player (for example, if it is not
successful in acquiring a position of equilibrium in
time), sends him back at the start.
The winner is the player who arrives first at the wall
and touch it shouting "star", which will "stand under"
in the next game.
A difference compared to other games of this type is that
"under" in this case is conceived as a prize and not as a
punishment.
To make the game more difficult many children use to say
the word "Go!" instead of "one, two, three... star!" The
game is then speeded up and made more difficult.
Flag
The gameplayground: indoor and outdoor areas (About 12m
x 6m)
Number of players: A minimum of ten players to a maximum of
thirty - forty participants divided into 2 teams
Materials: A common handkerchief
◊ How Can We Play The Game? ◊
The game Flag is a very famous game of skill, cunning and
movement. The flag is the tool you need to play the game.
It can be represented by a common handkerchief that will
be held in the hand by the head of the game.
The head of the game (usually an adult) stands on the
dividing line in the middle. The other players are
divided into two teams.
Each player has a number. The head of the game
outstretches his arm dangling the handkerchief then
shouts a number.
The pair of players of opposing teams but with the
same number run to the center of the field to take the
handkerchief.
Who arrives first and grabs the flag, must also be
careful and go back quickly to his own team because
the opponent can pursue him and if he reaches him the
point goes to him.
If the one who grabs the first flag is able to return to
his team line without being touched, he will get a
point.
The team that WINS gets a higher score by stealing
more flags.
Purpose of the game: the aim of the game is to steal the
flag and return without being taken by opposite team.
Variants of the name: the game can also be called
handkerchief.
 Hide and seek
  The game playground:
Number of players:
Hide and seek
Large, open space
At least 3, but usually a large group
,
◊ How Can We Play The Game? ◊
The game Hide and Seek is perhaps the most famous
game of group movement to play outdoors. It is practiced
mainly by little children due to its easy rules and the fun of
it.
Through an initial count you decide who will be the
first player to stay under.
He/she rests his/her head against a wall (called "hole")
and, with closed eyes, counts up to a number
corresponding to the number of other players
multiplied by 10. At the end of the count turns around
and, after shouting "go!" looks others meanwhile will
be hidden.
When he finds one player, he/she runs to the hole and
says the name of that player, loudly, so that everyone
can hear it: in this way he/she eliminates that player.
Usually the first player discovered will be the one to
make the count to the next round.
If a player reaches the hole before the one who is
“under”, He says "hole" and is free. The last player left
in the game, when he reaches the hole may declare
"hole free for everybody" freeing all players
previously discovered. In this case the count is carried
out again by the same player.
Purpose of the game: for those who count the aim is to find
out all other players; for others to reach the hole before him
and be “free”.

Palermo, May 18th/20th, 2015

Direzione Didattica Statale  «C. MANERI-INGRASSIA»

Healthy Europe through ICT aims to promote a healthy way of life to stop children obesity, bad food habits and the lack of physical exercise, using ICT as resource. By studying healthy nutrition at schools and teaching healthy eating habits to our students, we can establish good practices to acquire healthy lifestyle (nutrition and physical activity). We have involved children across the schools in identifying the similarities and differences between each school's/country's eating and physical exercise habits, and sharing experiences by using new technologies, exchanging videos, PowerPoint presentations, video conferencing, blogs, so that they could develop awareness of ways to improve the healthy lifestyle in each country. We want our pupils to be aware that our health is very important. What they learn in their younger years, will remain in their minds for the rest of their lives.
